001. Archer Point or Yuku Baja Muliku is a little slice of untouched natural paradise, located about 20 minutes south of Cooktown in Far North Tropical Queensland. Nestled between Wet Tropical Rainforest country and The Great Barrier Reef, the southern end of the Cape York Peninsula feels like stepping into a dramatic landscape from Jurassic Park, with huge green mountainous cliffs, diving straight into the ocean. Wild, windy and wonderful. This area of land has recently been returned to the Yuku Baja Muliku people, who continue to care for the land and responsibly manage the unique biodiversity of the region sustainably.

002. I have decided to make this a post because I think Archer Point is one of the best FREE camps in Far North Queensland. It is beautiful, wild mama nature in all her glory. There is no facilities, so it’s leave no trace/bush camp style. We rocked up as the sun was setting, four cars full of a travelling crew of backpackers and friends on a spontaneous weekend exploring Cooktown. I shot half a roll of film almost capturing the sunset as we all piled out of our vehicles and stood on the edge of the big hill with the lighthouse, as ferocious winds pushed us around. It was a moment of pure happiness and excitement. Nature is wild + powerful. Humans are weird + warm + wonderful. Travelling makes my heart feel happy, I hope you can feel it through these photos too !
