001. The universal language of music and dance is something I really value as a vital element of this human experience. A few years ago I stumbled into the electronic music scene and community that felt like home, with a love of dance, trance music and human connection at the core. I feel very lucky and grateful for days spent on a dusty doof d-floor that led me to experience the wildest of adventures, beautiful genuine raw human connection, and friendships that will last a lifetime. Life lived like this feels rich, bountiful and abundant to this little wandering soul.

002. 2020 has proven to be a difficult year for the music and event industry to say the least. As someone who relies on this industry as my main form of income, challenging is word I would use to describe the rollercoaster of COVID-19. When I headed up to the tropics to escape winter, I didn’t expect to have the opportunity to dance and be part of that community again. Life likes to surprise me though, and I ended up being lucky enough to attend a couple of small gatherings that filled up the the psy-trance sized hole in my little heart. The photos in this post are taken from dance floor adventures up in the far north - on the beach in the Daintree, a place near Mission Beach where ulysses butterflies flew around the campsite and a very muddy Studio Ghibli themed stomp my traveller friends put on in the rainforest on my final weekend. Here is some words from my journal on the trip to summarise - “One of the most naturally beautiful places I have ever spent time, with amazing humans + ridiculous psy-trance. Every bit of my heart + soul feels like it is going to explode. Music, dance, community, love, connection, nature, play, hugs, sharing, creating, being. I love life + I am grateful for everything that has lead me here.”

003. This year has put a rather large pause on the ways we had adapted to living, interacting and connecting. It has forced us to slow down, reconsider and recognise things that we might need to change within ourselves. I am still patiently waiting for the music industry to come back to life here in Australia. Hopefully it won’t be too long until I am back dancing around a dusty doof dance floor, camera in hands, capturing the magic and madness of this wild human experience.
