CAPE CONRAN

001. I recently did a road trip at the end of winter driving up the east coast for 10 days, from South Gippsland in Victoria back up to Brisbane. Located on the wild far-east coast of the state, I camped a couple nights at Cape Conran Coastal Park, managed by Parks Vic, and it is now up there as one of favourite campsites + national parks in all of Victoria! There are LOADS of sites, cold showers, toilets and every single camp site has a fire pit (national park luxury!). Beachside banksias adorned in seaweed jewels, bright lichens growing on rocks, native scrub still recovering after bushfires, sleepy shoreline mornings watching the surfers + the first sun speckles on the ocean appear… Not to mention falling asleep next to the sound of the ocean every night, under huge banksias, gums + lots of furry/fluffy friends… it really is magic.

002. These photo were taken on digital + I am really keen to get a print made of my kookaburra friend, (we hung out for like half an hour at the fire hehe). The whole process of shooting 35mm makes my heart + soul so happy but sadly in the past few years it has become a heavier burden for my wallet to bear… I’m trying to teach myself to shoot digital again when photographing adventures, instead of reaching for film all the time… I’m taking a forced break from 35mm for a few months to focus on some big saving goals. It makes me a little sad to take it out of my creative practice, but I’m reminding myself it’s only temporary while I focus on the next part of the journey.
